Dawgs bolster pitching staff adding Joey Benda

Calgary Dawgs are pleased to announce the signing of RHP Joey Benda, a 6’, 180 lb. sophomore at Porterville College in California. Benda hails from North Vancouver, British Columbia and enjoyed success with the Langley Blaze of the Premier League in the Lower Mainland before moving to the collegiate level. Over the course of the 2005 college baseball season, Benda has an impressive 4-1 won/loss record with 31 strike outs over 34 innings pitched. He has been one of the mainstays of the Porterville pitching staff.

“Dawgs expect big things out of Joey Benda. He features a high 80s fastball, a good breaking ball and has proven he can win at the college level. Coach Robb has another good arm to go to in the Dawgs 2005 bullpen.”
