MacNevin Selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America District First Team

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. Niagara University baseball senior Andrew MacNevin (St. Catherines, P.E.I.) already was named the school's Male Athlete of the Year earlier this season at the Student-Athlete Awards Banquet. Thursday brought in another prestigious honor as he earned a spot on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America District I first team.

By being named to the first team in Niagaraís district, MacNevin will be eligible for inclusion on the Academic All-America ballot. The national voting for that begins Tuesday.

MacNevin, who started the 2006 campaign at third base and moved over to shortstop mid-way through the year, has a 3.58 grade-point average at Niagara. Majoring in accounting, he has started all but one game for the Purple Eagles and holds a .352 batting average with four homers and 32 RBI.

For his career, MacNevin was named to the Academic All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference team twice and was a first team All-MAAC selection in 2005. He ranks tied for third in Niagara history with 18 home runs and fourth in RBI with 118.
